One of the major factors in determining the amount that you pay every month for your life insurance is your weight. Weighing too much or too little can lead to health problems.

You can control your weight by eating healthy foods and being physically active.

Include the following in your diet:

  • Vegetables
  • Fruits
  • Dry beans (red beans, navy beans and soybeans)
  • Whole grains (wheat, rice, oats, corn)
  • Whole grain breads and cereals.
  • Fish
  • Poultry without skin.
  • Low-fat dairy.

Research shows that physical activity can help prevent at least six diseases: heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis, and mental disorders, such as depression.

Here are a few tips to increase your physical activity:

  • Choose something that will fit into your daily life, such as walking, gardening, raking leaves, or shoveling snow.
  • Find something you enjoy, dancing, swimming, rollerblading...
  • Try a new activity, such as biking.
  • Ask a friend to start with you or join a group.
  • Start slowly and keep at it.
  • If the weather is bad walk the mall or put an exercise tape in the vcr.
